Hello I’m Taki. I am going to talk about the details of this episode. There are spoilers here, so if you are an anime only, be careful. I will talk about pre intoro part first, then moving to the first half and latter half.

Pre intro
0:10 Baby Eren
At the beginning of the episode, a bird showed up. It is a characteristic of the final season to put a bird everywhere.

A body motion which was not in the manga was added in the baby Eren scene. What we should pay attention to is Eren’s gaze at Carla. I think Eren was thinking about his mother who was already dead. On the other hand, Zeke was looking at Grisha.

In the manga, there was also a scene describing walking Eren, but in this episode, a frying butterfly was added. In the episode #6“The World the Girl Saw”, a butterfly being eaten was also described as a metaphor of the cruel world. I kinda feel a connection between these scenes. Considering that a butterfly was in the last part of the OP, I think this has a lot of meanings in the final season.

1:03 Grisha the apple-polisher lol
I didn’t notice in the manga that Grisha was apple-polishing so much. I don’t want to see my father doing that lol. The person who Grisha was talking to is one of the royal attendants in the uprising arc. If you are a hard-core AoT fan, you can realize that he was a “masterpiece” made by the artist Zackray. (In Japan, Zackray is known as “the artist”)

1:31 Eren’s monotonous act

Eren was trying to deceive Zeke by acting lol. A person who was released from a brainwashing never say I am released from a brainwashing, so Eren was obviously lying. He said “shit” as much as Levi lol. From this scene, Eren stopped acting like I was no longer brainwashed, because Eren realized that he could use his ability in the memory (explained in detail latter).

2:05 Grisha found the church
Same as the manga, Kenny showed up. Despite the existence of Kenny, Grisha succeeded to steal important information. That is something only the former outstanding representative of Eldian restoration could do lol.

At the church scene, Grisha’s hesitation was well described. Grisha had to chose either to fulfill the duty as a Eldian restoration or the peace life with his wife and children which was going to fall. Then he chose latter and cried. His tear means not only his love to his family but the struggling for his own guilt feelings and weakness.

Poor Zeke seeing Grisha hugging Eren. Zeke’s flash back was added, which reminded Zeke of how Grisha treated him before. In the perspective of Zeke, Grisha should have been a terrible father. However, in the memory, Grisha was nothing but good father. I think poor boy Zeke must think like “why didn’t Grisha love me like he did to Eren”.

3:32 Grisha seeing Zeke
At this point, Eren realized that Grisha could see Eren’s memory. So, Eren who was passive until now became active and opened the door, which means that Eren came to know what to do.

First half
3:53 The panel in chapter 139 was added
The panel that Grisha held baby Eren was added. This is the scene where Grisha said “You are free” to Eren. Right after this scene, Eren’s line that I have been free since I was born into this world was described. While reading the manga, we unintentionally look away, but Eren is a person who killed robbers at his age of 9 making even Levi call him a “monster”.

AoT was the story that Eren who had been free since he was born into this world sought the freedom destroying whatever prevented him.

This is just my theory but the word “You are free” could make Eren became such a person.

4:52 Mikasa’s scarf
In the manga, Mikasa’s face was described but, in this episode, Eren’s blushing face was described, which was cute. I think adult Eren saw the scarf as what unintentionally changed Mikasa’s life with complexly mixed emotion. He also said he wanted her to throw it away.

5:22 A child and parent playing with a ball.
For Zeke, playing with a ball is a symbol affection between parents and child. Zeke just wanted his father to play with him and love him even though he was not talented warrior. However, Grisha just forced him to fulfill the duty ignoring Zeke’s words. So, this scene symbolized that Zeke has never been loved by his father. On the other hand, Xaver showed his love to Zeke by playing catch.

Right after this scene, Zeke said to Eren “I never abandon you like Mr. Xaver did to me”. This direction was so good. We can exactly feel what Zeke feels and it reminded us of the poor Zeke who was never loved by his parents.

Zeke’s line “I want save you my only brother before we save the world” could be what Zeke want Grisha to say to him like “I want to love you instead of restreeting the Eldia”. That is not he wanted too much but just wanted to play with his father.

7:20 The way Grisha see Eren
It was kinda funny seeing two suspicious people openly were in the house. I really appreciate that Mappa redrew the scene like Wit’s one. I recommend you compare these two scenes. I think the voice acting was also re-recording. I noticed that Mikasa’s ear stuck out in Wit but was hidden in Mappa. Other example is Grisha’s face expression when he heard Eren’s words. Above all, we finally see the thing in the background of the “key scene” in episode #1.

Latter half
8:15 The color change of Freda’s eyes
When Freda heard of the line from Grisha” Please fight against the titans”, she was conflicted. But when the color of her eyes turned to purple, she was completely taken her control by the vow of renouncing war.

Freda said, “The day when we are judged has come”, “We learned from the tragedies in the great titan war” in a monotonous manner. I feel like that Freda was forced to say the words from Karl Fritz. Because Grisha was influenced by Eren so much, so at one glance, this scene was like Freda vs Grisha, but it was actually Eren vs Karl Frits things, which is really interesting.

9:16 The scream of Reiss family
I really felt AoT seeing this scene that whereas Grisha and Frida were hesitating to fight each other, but other family member forced her to kill him. Grisha hesitated to kill them because he was a doctor and even Frida did. I think the reason Frida hesitated is because of the vow of renouncing war. It can be seen in the scene between Wri and Kenny.

How ugly they are saying “Kill him right now!” or “Can’t let him alive anymore!”. They could say such a thing because they were not the one who was supposed to kill Grisha. Even after Frida said “We must accept the death”, they didn’t want to die.

10:20 Rod Reiss running away
Rod Reiss was in the very last place in the family where was safest place and ran away first lol. He was yelling to Frida to kill Grisha form the furthest place. I think he was not killed at that time because of Eren’s plan. By the way he told Historia he managed to escape just accidentally.

10:58 Eren’s threat
I personally think Eren can chose the memory to show Grisha and Grisha can see the memory because of the Attack titan ability. But there is still possibility that Grisha just see parts of Eren’s memory. In that scene, seeing Eren’s eye blighting green, it seemed that Attack titan’s ability was activated.

11:35 Grisha with his surgical knife
I personally like this scene most. I am really happy to see Grisha’s insane face expression. He had a second life as a doctor who saved lives, but the choice (a price of freedom.) he made before never let him go the way. The scene when Grisha stabbed his right hand with surgical knife has two meanings. One is that he stabbed his right hand which led Fei to go out, which symbolize the price of freedom. Though Grisha is right-handed, he grabbed the knife in his left hand. Second one is that he used a surgical knife which was used to save lives to become a titan and kill people. It is very ironic.

12:44 Grisha’s crazy dance
This is the scariest scene in this episode for me. I felt his pain so much. Though he was checking child’s health previous day, he killed small children. He was so upset to drop the precious syringe. He couldn’t find where Eren was, so he had nothing to do but wandering around. His identity being a doctor was completely collapsed.

I also think he went crazy party because he saw “the scene” after slaughtering whole Reiss family.

エレンとグリシャの関わりを見て絶望するジークかわいそう…

地下室のグリシャの部屋で薬品がアップで映ったのはアニオリですかね……
ヨロイブラウンを想起したんですが、内地の王家からくすねて地下室に持ち帰って、礼拝堂襲撃のときに置いておいたとか……
ないか……

やっぱアニメは演出が最高だわ
内容分かっててもクソ面白い

最近知ったのですが、紫色ってメソポタミアの奴隷の丘から見つかった色らしくてそれを意図していたかは分からないし偶然かもですが、フリーダが紫色の瞳になったのは王の思想の奴隷になったという意味が込められていたりして！と深読みしてます。

4:16 「生まれたときからオレのままだ」
繰り返し象徴的に放たれてきた「お前は自由だ」という言葉、いずれも不自由な人にかけられてきました
この言葉がエレンの呪縛になっているのは確か
これはグリシャが図らずも犯してしまった最初にして最後の『洗脳』だったのかもしれないですね
エレンが盗賊殺しを意識して言っているなら『オレはずっとオレのままだ』とかでもいいですし、わざわざジークが聞き返しているのも印象的で、最終話のグリシャの言葉がエレンの原初的欲求になっていることを表すために伏線を張っているように見えます

【進撃の巨人の能力まとめ】
※ネタバレあり

進撃の巨人の能力=
①始祖&進撃の継承者②未来の最終継承者である、エレンから未来のエレンの記憶を受信できる。(未来の記憶を与える事ができるのはエレンのみ。この意味で未来の継承者はエレンのみに限定される)
※記憶を送信している(厳密には送信するというよりは与えている)能力は、進撃ではなく、始祖の能力。そして、エレンは送信者であるため、始祖&進撃の最終継承者から未来の記憶を受信するという進撃の巨人の能力は発動できない。
エレンが見た未来の記憶は、あくまで過去の継承者グリシャを通して見た未来の記憶に過ぎない。

大学でタキさんの“進撃の巨人論”やってほしい笑

ハイハイで自由に這うエレンをグリシャが拾い上げたら泣いたところにもエレンの本質が描かれているのかも…！なんてね

ジークはエレンが愛されて育った事に嫉妬したりせず（私にはそう見えました）、ただどこかで必ず父親からの悪影響を受けたはずだ！と信じていたのだなと思いました
そしたらまさかのエレンが父親に影響を与えていたと

アニメはグリシャの悲壮感が素晴らしい表現をされていて、原作以上に胸にきました

エレンはグリシャにダイナがカルラを食べるシーンを見せなかったようですが、「お前だったのか、ダイナ」とエレンが地下牢で泣きながら言ってた時にはグリシャと重なっているような感じでしたよね
エレンの記憶が混乱しただけなのか、時間軸的にあの時点で亡くなった（道にいる？）グリシャも知る事になったのか？
どちらにせよエレンとしてはダイナがカルラを食べるシーンはグリシャに見せる気がなかったのだなと思いました
その辺にエレンの中にある愛情や、優しさを感じました
ジークに対しても、利用する目的はあったとしても、育ってきた環境に同情して、その凝り固まった父親への疑心を溶かしてあげたいという優しさがあったのかな？と思いました
ジークの結末はエレンには見えているでしょうから、その前に…という感じだったのかな？（最終的にはアルミンとの会話がジークを解放したのでしょうが）

結局一期2話の大人エレンの伏線のやつは回収されずにうやむやのままか。あと相変わらず日笠さんの演技は良かった

フリーダ巨人とグリシャ巨人(エレンも)の目の色が補色として表現されてたんだなぁ…

最後グリシャとジークのシーン、
グリシャ「…叶うのはエレンの望みだ」
ジーク「何を…言っている」
グリシャ「エレンの先の記憶を見た」
ここで、ジークの言葉に食い込むようにグリシャがセリフを被せているのが印象的でした。
グリシャにとって会話しているのではなくただ伝えようとしていたのかなと感じました。

巨人化ためらったときのフリーダの目の色って戻ってたような
だから普通にフリーダの優しさで巨人化したくなかたったのでは?

ジークのメスの手に関して、
フェイの回想の前から右手を刺そうとしてませんでしたか？一旦辞めましたが

ダンス→避難所で「カルラが巨人に食われた」と少年エレンから聞く
の流れからすると、その直後にグリシャが能力をエレンに継承させたのは任期切れや社会の混乱に乗じてのことだけでなく、自殺だったんじゃないかと思わざるを得ません…

レイス家の気持ちが痛い程よく分かるｗ
自分で手を下すなんて出来ないし、勇気もない。ただ誰かに頼るだけ…ケニーの言葉を借りれば、何かに酔っ払ってないと何も出来ない…

グリシャの演説中にエレンがズカズカ歩き出したシーンが印象的でした。あれは後ろにいるジークは過去、真ん中のグリシャは現在、前にいるエレンは未来という具合に三人の精神的な時間のスタンスを立ち位置と並び順で表現したものじゃないかと思いました
安楽死計画で未来を否定し過去の過ちを正す事に意味を求めるジーク、復権派の任務よりも今を生きる家族との生活が大切になったグリシャ、そして過去も現在も犠牲にして未来に向かって進み続けるエレン。そしてその精神的なスタンスを表すように並ぶ三人の中で最もフリーダ＝始祖の巨人の近くにいるのがエレン

何度も言いますが、タキさんの解説は最高です。
海外の進撃ウォッチャーがこの動画を理解出来ない事が残念でならない。
アニメの進撃の巨人が終わったら、タキロスになりそう…

グリシャの声優さんが本当に良かった…
狂って叫ぶところとかもう見ててたまらん

グリシャとジークのシーンはすごく胸が締め付けられ涙してしまいました。何よりグリシャ役の声優さんの演技に感服しました。

自由を奪われるくらいなら相手から自由を奪うのが生まれながらのエレンの特性だとするならば、それと同時に大事な人にマフラーを何度でも巻いてあげるのも生まれながらのエレンの特性なんだよな。

記憶ツアー開始直後エレンはジークに出し抜かれたことに焦っていたような気がします。だからグリシャの暴言を吐いて「洗脳が解けた」となんとかジークに擦り寄りながら突破口を探していたのではないかと。

その後「ジークがこんな髭面のおじさんなわけないだろ」で自身の進撃の巨人の力で未来の記憶をグリシャに見せる事で自分の力を過去に介在させる術があることを知る。
そこでエレンの中で全て点と点が繋がり、エレンが知る未来に繋がる道を見つけることができた。ジークに記憶ツアーに連れ込まれたこの道が正しい道であることが理解できた。だから、その後は積極的にジークを誘導していったんじゃないかと考えています。

ちなみにグリシャはジーク髭面おじさん発言の時点では進撃の巨人の能力をまだ知らなかったみたいですね。知ってたらあれがエレンが見た記憶だと理解できたはずですから。

エレンを変えるためだったのが結局変わったのはジークなのが好き

なんか、この回グリシャのセリフの速度遅いと思ったの俺だけ？

原作第1話のここで、何故外を向いてるのか、と思ってたので、この伏線回収には鳥肌がたった。

グリシャとジークの会話の後、一瞬だけ子供のエレンが映って泣いていたのはなぜ？

地下に籠もってたフリーダたち、ただの立ち絵じゃなく、動きがあって良かった。出番がすくないながらも。
エレンの母ちゃんは、もっと江戸っ子な印象だったんだけど、今回はちょっとなよなよしててイメージ違いだなぁ。

一応聞いておきたいのですが、グリシャがジークに対して「お前ともっと遊んでやればよかった」的な事を言ってたんですが、これは愛情ゆえの発言ですか？それともこんなことするハメにはならなかったって意味ですか？

幸せそうな所は、足早に済ますジークが印象に残ってる。

ジークと違いエレンはグリシャが進撃巨人の能力を有してから出来た子供なのだから、ある意味産まれた時から化け物だよな

ロッド・レイスの醜さの描き方がとても良かった！

エレンがお母さんを見てるシーン、エレンが自らの意思でお母さんを殺したんだって思いながら改めて見たから、しんどかった､､､。

正直初代レイス王って責任から逃げただけじゃね？とは思う。自分は罪から逃げるなとか言ってるくせに。ユミルの民以外を全員殺した上で、始祖の能力で全人類に平和思想を植えつければよかったやん。

地下室を見せてやろうの地下室は大人エレンに向けては礼拝堂の地下室という意味も含まれてるのかなと思いました。

オープニングの最後のちょうはハリルともう1人(名前忘れた)が地鳴らし巨人に踏まれるところの伏線？なのでは？

誰か海外向けに英訳つけて切り抜き動画作ればいいのに。

エレンが手を噛んで巨人化するのって、フリーダ由来だったんですね。グリシャはメスで刺してるし、クルーガーはナイフで切っているし。

道の中に入ると永遠と一瞬は同じことなわけですが、道の中で記憶ツアーに行くと記憶ツアーの時間経過と道でのそれは同じな感じがします。エレンとジークは何年も記憶ツアーしてたようですが、その間ユミルちゃんはオッサン兄弟が額をごっつんこしている側で何年も待っていたのでしょうか？だとすると「もう終わりにしたくなる」気持ちも分かります。

主要キャラクターがなんの奴隷か集作って欲しいです！
